Master's Degree in General Health Psychology

This official qualifying master's degree, endorsed by the Official College of Psychologists, will allow you to apply everything you have learnt in the Bachelor's Degree from a practical and intensive clinical approach, transferring it to professional reality. You will develop your perceptive and analytical skills, your autonomy in decision-making and the necessary skills to approach each clinical case with rigour and confidence. Teaching staff made up of 100% active professionals. You will do more than 700 practical hours in hospitals and top-level centres, as well as in our new UAX Psychology Clinic.

The Master’s Degree in General Health Psychology, accredited by the Official College of Psychologists, is an official, face-to-face master’s programme with a practical focus, taught at our Chamartín Campus.

WHO IS IT AIMED AT?
Graduates with a degree in Psychology who have completed 90 ECTS credits in clinical or health-related subjects, and who wish to qualify to practise as a general health psychologist, acquiring the necessary skills to carry out research, assessments and psychological interventions relating to various behaviours.

WHAT SKILLS WILL YOU ACQUIRE?
With the Master’s in General Health Psychology, you will develop the valuable perceptual and analytical skills required to address each patient’s situation, gain autonomy in decision-making, and learn to operate effectively in the following contexts:

  • Support for patients experiencing emotional distress: anxiety attacks, bereavement, emotional distress, traumatic events, relationship breakdowns, workplace conflicts, etc.
  • Basic psychoeducation: fostering problem-solving skills.
    Medical conditions with psychological implications: such as obesity, epilepsy, migraines, rheumatic diseases, diabetes or high blood pressure. 
  • Chronic conditions: helping people cope with chronic pain, supporting those living with people with dementia or those requiring a high level of care, and supporting patients with cancer or infertility, etc. 
  • Special groups: children and young people. Children with behavioural difficulties, childhood fears, social problems, learning difficulties, adoption. In adolescents: first sexual experiences, alcohol and drugs, use of new technologies, self-esteem, etc.  
  • Vulnerable groups: immigrants, children of people with mental health conditions, people with substance use disorders, etc. 
  • Health education: promoting healthy habits amongst the general public.
