So how will we develop these skills in the UAX Bachelor’s degree in Nursing?
You will acquire professional skills to enable you to perform your role with confidence in real-world practice, as well as skills relating to the patient experience.
Our curriculum is designed to enable you to develop professional clinical reasoning and practical skills so that you can perform your role with confidence and effectiveness in real-world practice. In addition, you will develop transferable skills, such as ethical awareness, time management, problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, empathy, assertiveness and understanding. The Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at UAX also includes an additional certificate and expert diploma for students: the Expert Diploma in Urgent Care, Emergencies and Critical Care, and the Certificate in Basic Life Support.

In addition to the UAX Degree in Nursing, you will obtain the Diploma of Expert in Emergencies, Emergencies and Critical Care. You will be prepared to deal with emergency situations in any health service and you will be able to provide assistance in Emergency or ICU areas. Entry route and requirements:
Alfonso X el Sabio University complies with the provisions of Royal Decree 822/2021, concerning the organisation of university education, and with Article 38 of Organic Law 2/2006, as amended following the LOMLOE. Furthermore, the applicable university regulations are Organic Law 2/2023 on the University System (LOSU). With regard to access and admission to official undergraduate degree programmes, Royal Decree 534/2024 of 11 June applies, which regulates the entry requirements for official undergraduate degree programmes, the basic characteristics of the entrance examination and the basic regulations governing admission procedures.

The University has established an admissions process which can be summarised as follows:
1. A psycho-educational assessment of the various aptitudes required of a university student, based on the course of study chosen and the prior knowledge necessary to successfully complete that course.
2. Proficiency test in the foreign language chosen by the student.
3. An educational guidance session on the student’s chosen career path.
4. Where applicable, a personal interview with the student to address any specific queries.
In any case, the tests set by the University are not in themselves exclusionary, but rather serve as a guide.
Credit recognition:
The recognition of credits in official undergraduate degree programmes must comply with the following basic rules:
a) Provided that the destination degree belongs to the same branch as the degree of origin, credits corresponding to core subjects within that branch shall be recognised.
b) Credits corresponding to other basic subjects taken within the destination field of study shall also be recognised.
c) The remaining credits shall be recognised by the University, taking into account the alignment between the skills and knowledge associated with the other subjects taken by the student and those set out in the curriculum, or which are of a cross-disciplinary nature.
A personalised assessment will be carried out for each student who requests it, based on the prior learning they can demonstrate.
Alfonso X El Sabio University has approved and published regulations adapted to Royal Decree 822/2021 to address the transfer and recognition of credits.

Students learnt everything from how to start out in the profession and how to register with the professional body from the Secretary-General of the Official College of Nursing of Madrid; how to practise in the public healthcare sector through the experience of the Head of the Nursing Human Resources Department at Gregorio Marañón University Hospital; and how nursing is managed in the private healthcare sector, with a presentation by the Corporate Director of Nursing at the Quirónsalud Hospital Group. Other career paths and nursing specialisms were also discussed, such as specialisation in geriatric nursing, the professions of midwives and traditional birth attendants, nursing assistants, working in the pharmaceutical industry, or even in the Armed Forces.
