At UAX Mare Nostrum, you will be taught using an innovative teaching methodology based on practical and experiential learning from the very first year.

• BodyInteract: An interactive table for practising with virtual patients in real clinical scenarios.
• SECTRA Portal: A platform for studying anatomy and clinical cases using radiological and histological images from real-life cases.
• Learning Space: A system that links simulations and assesses your learning progress, featuring interactive manikins that exhibit the physiological responses of adult patients, infants and pregnant women, enabling you to practise key nursing care procedures.
• Focus on research and students’ careers: 30 years’ experience as leaders in the healthcare sector at UAX, which translates into figures: more than 500 researchers and over 8,000 high-impact publications from our research and development teams speak for themselves.
   

Additional certification included in the degree:

Diploma in Emergency, Urgent Care and Critical Care, which prepares you to work in areas such as the ICU and A&E, equipping you to handle highly demanding situations in any healthcare setting.
 

Facilities

You will have access to the best facilities to further your professional development:

• Anatomy Laboratory: Students have access to anatomical models of the organs and systems of the human body. Furthermore, the laboratory is equipped with audiovisual teaching aids featuring a wealth of visual material relating to the morphology, structure and function of the human body.   
• Biology Laboratory: We have two laboratories dedicated to Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biological Analysis, Pharmacology and Microbiology. The inventory of equipment and consumables in the biology laboratories is standard for this type of facility. These include microscopes, hot plates, shakers, CO₂ incubators, a fluorescence microscope, PCR machines, electrophoresis equipment, spectrophotometers, balances, laminar flow cabinets and freezers.   
• Multipurpose Nursing Room: This facility is essential for the development of clinical skills in the first-year modules of the degree programme. These practical sessions complement students’ clinical skills and abilities, but under no circumstances do they replace clinical placements in hospitals and healthcare centres.

At UAX Mare Nostrum we are in constant contact with the profession and we collaborate with the Malaga College of Nursing to understand their needs and adapt the academic curriculum of each of our degrees to the needs of the local market.

Admission criteria and tests:

The University establishes an access process that is synthesized in:
1. Psychopedagogical evaluation of the different aptitudes required of a university student, depending on the studies he/she has chosen and the previous knowledge necessary to successfully complete those studies.
2. Level test in the foreign language chosen by the student.
3. Didactic orientation session on the vocational option chosen by the student.
4. If necessary, personal interview with the student to clear up any doubts that may arise.
In any case, the tests established by the University are not exclusive in themselves, but rather orientative.

Clinical and technical competences

• Ability to provide safe, ethical and person-centred nursing care.
• Practical competence in real healthcare environments (with more than 2,300 hours of practice in top-level centres and hospitals).
• Use of advanced healthcare technology and clinical simulation environments.
• Additional certification in emergency and critical care, as well as in advanced life support (accredited by the European Resuscitation Council and/or the American Heart Association, depending on the certification modality of the plan).

Professional and personal competences

• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary manner within health teams.
• Effective communication with patients, families and professionals.
• Informed clinical judgement, ethical reflection and autonomy in care decision-making.
• Preparation to incorporate scientific evidence and technological approaches into daily practice.

In summary, the graduate profile is characterised by a competent and responsible nursing professional, with both advanced theoretical and practical training, capable of performing care, educational, management and health promotion functions in different health contexts.
