At UAX Mare Nostrum, you will be taught using an innovative teaching methodology based on practical and experiential learning from the very first year.
This approach combines scientific principles, clinical skills and professional values, preparing you for all nursing specialisms.
At UAX Mare Nostrum, you will learn to think and make decisions like a nursing professional right from the start of your training. Our model places clinical reasoning at the heart of the learning process, using real clinical cases and situations to develop your ability to analyse, prioritise care and make informed decisions.
The methodology follows a progressive sequence of learning:
Learn → Apply → Practise → Simulate → Care → Reflect → Improve
Through clinical simulation and work with complex scenarios, you will not only practise procedures and technical skills, but also decision-making, communication and teamwork. After each activity, you will take part in debriefing sessions and structured reflection, a vital tool for consolidating what you have learnt, identifying areas for improvement and reinforcing clinical safety before coming into contact with real patients.

Admission criteria and assessments:
The University has established an admissions process which can be summarised as follows:
1. A psycho-educational assessment of the various aptitudes required of a university student, based on the course of study they have chosen and the prior knowledge necessary to successfully undertake that course.
2. A proficiency test in the foreign language chosen by the student.
3. An educational and guidance session on the student’s chosen career path.
4. Where applicable, a personal interview with the student to clarify any specific queries.
In any case, the tests set by the University are not, in themselves, exclusionary, but rather serve as a guide.

Learn from practising nurses who lead healthcare services and teams, specialising in areas such as A&E, critical care, mental health, maternal and child health, and social and healthcare. A teaching staff comprising professionals with EIR training, doctors and researchers who will give you an insight into the present and future of the profession.
PhD (cum laude) in Health Sciences and a Diploma in Nursing, with postgraduate training in Research, Education and School Health. With extensive experience in teaching, research and clinical practice, she has worked in A&E, critical care and oncology departments, as well as at the Malaga Institute for Biomedical Research (IBIMA). She is currently Head of Studies and a lecturer on the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at UAX Mare Nostrum.
He holds a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Huelva and a degree in Nursing, specialising in biomedical research and international health. He has a solid track record as a clinical trial coordinator at IBIMA, experience in critical care, and involvement in artificial intelligence projects applied to healthcare (ERC Grant); he brings this scientific and managerial expertise to his teaching and to the management of university research.
He holds a European PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology, awarded cum laude by the University of Málaga, and specialises in neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases. He has built up a solid scientific career within the NeuroAD group (CIBERNED/IBIMA) and at the McGovern Medical School (USA), which he combines with extensive experience in university-level teaching in Health Sciences, providing future professionals with a holistic approach based on pathophysiology and scientific evidence.
PhD in Science (Cell and Molecular Biology and Neuroscience) and a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology. A researcher at IBIMA–BIONAND and a lecturer on the Nursing and Dentistry degree programmes at UAX, her work focuses on lipid metabolism, nutrition and reproductive health. Accredited by ANECA, she has over 20 indexed publications to her name and experience in international research and scientific outreach projects.
He holds a Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication, with over 30 years’ experience in cardiology at the Costa del Sol Hospital. A PhD candidate in Health Sciences, he is deputy director and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Association of Cardiology Nursing, and the author of various award-winning publications on research and public outreach in the field of cardiovascular care.
She holds a degree in Medicine from the University of Málaga, with a specialisation and a Master’s degree in Ophthalmology, and undertook a research placement at the Paul-Flechsig-Institut für Hirnforschung (Leipzig, Germany). With over ten years’ experience in the Andalusian Health System, she combines her clinical work with teaching at CESUR Málaga Este and the University of Málaga as a clinical tutor and ECOE examiner.
PhD in Psychology with a Master’s degree in Health Psychology and a specialist in Contextual Therapies. With over 10 years’ experience in teaching at international universities and in teacher training, he combines clinical practice as a health psychologist with research; he is the author of articles in international journals and co-author of book chapters, as well as participating in conferences and scientific committees.
PhD in Psychology, awarded cum laude by the University of Málaga, specialising in biostatistics and research methodology. He combines his role as an associate professor at the University of Málaga (UMA) with analytical consultancy and teaching on the Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Alfonso X Mare Nostrum University, where he teaches biostatistics with a focus on developing critical thinking, data analysis applied to the health sciences, and the interpretation of scientific evidence in clinical practice.
Graduate in Nursing and Master in Health, with specialisation in Counselling and Psychological First Aid. Nurse in the ICU of the Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Victoria, he is an instructor in Clinical Simulation and Life Support by the ERC and NAEMT. He combines his healthcare work with teaching and health dissemination through professional networks.
