We at the Alfonso X El Sabio Vocational Training Centre would like to inform you that on 1 September, the new vocational training system will come into force across the whole of Spain for the first years of all training programmes, with the exception of the Higher Level Diploma in Dietetics, which will continue to be taught in accordance with the LOGSE Plan.
Key changes
Dual approach to training
All Vocational Training will adopt a dual approach, meaning that all students will combine their learning between the educational centre and the workplace. This model aims to improve students’ employability by providing them with real-world work experience whilst they are studying.
Specific changes for the first year
The Community of Madrid has just published the guidelines on the structure and organisation of the advanced vocational training course in which you are enrolled for the 2024–2025 academic year. The specific modules for your qualification remain the same, although the new curriculum includes three new features for your first year:
- Personal pathway to employability: This new module replaces the ‘Vocational Training and Career Guidance’ module and may be recognised as equivalent if you have successfully completed it in a previous vocational training programme.
- Optional module: Each centre will offer this module in accordance with the criteria set by its Academic Management, allowing students to personalise part of their training.
- First phase of work-based learning: In the final term of the academic year, students will take part in a phase of work-based learning, providing them with significant practical experience in the workplace.
How does this change affect students?
No additional cost
This change in regulations will not incur any additional costs for you at our institution. We remain committed to providing accessible, high-quality education without imposing any extra financial burden on our students.
Higher National Diploma in Dietetics
It is important to note that the Higher National Diploma in Dietetics will continue to be taught in accordance with the LOGSE curriculum, so students on this course will not experience any changes to their study programme.
The new vocational training system represents a significant change to the educational structure, aimed at improving students’ integration into the professional world from an early stage of their training. This approach will benefit not only students but also businesses, creating a more effective bridge between education and work.
If you are considering studying an advanced vocational course in IT, you can choose from a range of qualifications depending on the area in which you wish to pursue your career:
