Assessment Criteria Assessment: Students will sit two assessment tests in order to pass the module; these tests are cumulative and must be passed separately in order to pass the module. Should a student fail either of the two parts, they must sit the module’s resit examination; Should they fail this final sitting, the module will be marked as failed and the student will have to re-enrol on the module, incurring the resulting academic and financial burden for the following academic year. Assignments set during the course, such as literature reviews, topic development or poster presentations, etc., will count towards continuous assessment. The arithmetic mean of the marks from the assessment tests will account for 80 per cent of the final mark, with the remaining 20 per cent corresponding to the sum of the tests, assignments and posters completed during the course. Attendance: Unexcused absences will not be permitted; absences must be made up during the ‘make-up’ period at Easter, Christmas or in July/August; each absence counts as one day that must be made up. Three 10-minute latenesses count as one absence; six 5-minute latenesses count as one absence. Failure to complete the assignments or tasks set in the theoretical classes will be treated as an absence, and the student will be removed from the class immediately. If this behaviour is repeated, disciplinary measures may be applied, such as temporary exclusion or a ban on performing certain procedures. Failure to make up for an absence due to an emergency or having three unexcused absences will be penalised at the discretion of the Master’s programme management, with measures such as temporary exclusion, a ban on performing certain procedures, or permanent expulsion from the programme. In addition, students must attend the Annual Meeting of the Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration and the Young Researchers’ Meeting of the Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration; failure to attend these meetings will be penalised as detailed in the previous paragraph. Should these meetings coincide with the Meeting of the European Federation of Periodontology (Europerio), students must attend the latter; the presentation of a paper is optional. Knowledge assessment tests: There will be two assessment tests, each consisting of 10 short-answer questions. The first will take place in January following the Christmas break, whilst the second will take place in June. These tests must be passed individually, and the mark for the test passed will be recorded. If a student fails either of these assessments, they will have the opportunity to sit a resit in mid-July. In this resit, the student’s continuous assessment mark will not count, and they may only achieve a maximum mark of 7. If they fail this resit, they must re-enrol for the module in the following academic year. Assessment Tests 80% Continuous Assessment 20% Assessment Continuous Assessment: - Analysis of the literature relating to the syllabus: Participation in this work and the quality of the analysis of these articles will be assessed. - Evidence-based treatment plan assignment: The quality of the selected articles and the presentation will be assessed. - Additional review assignments on topics beyond the syllabus, such as: dossiers on periodontal pathogens, presentations on chemical and physical agents, etc. - Presentations of scientific papers at national congresses of the Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration (SEPA Young Researchers’ Meeting: 1 poster per pair; Annual Meeting: 1 poster per student).Should this coincide with a meeting of the European Federation of Periodontology (Europerio), the presentation of a paper will be optional. - Short-answer questions on selected talks chosen by the course lecturers from the meetings and courses indicated as compulsory attendance. |
