What qualifications do you need to become a financial adviser?

First and foremost, to become a financial adviser, you must have previously completed a degree in a field related to economics and business administration, such as: Economics, a degree in Business Administration and Management ( ) or the Online Business Administration and Management degree, the double degree in Business Administration and Law , Accounting or Finance. These are some of the degree courses you need to take if you want to become a financial adviser. You can also undertake a vocational training course to become a Higher-Level Technician in Administration and Finance. 

Therefore, to work in financial consultancy, you must have completed one of the degree courses mentioned above, although it is worth noting that this profession can also be entered via other courses of study, such as Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or courses related to Statistics, amongst other academic options. 

Requirements to become a financial adviser

Among the requirements for becoming a financial adviser, it is worth noting that the EFA qualification is required; this is a certification awarded by the EFPA ( European Financial Planning Association) which enables financial advisory and planning professionals to practise their profession with the assurance that they hold the relevant qualification.

This is intended to prevent financial products and services from being marketed to individuals or companies that do not meet the appropriate risk profile. It is one of the most popular certifications for those wishing to work in the banking and financial advisory sector, complying with the regulations of the CNMV (National Securities Market Commission).
